About the Event
For the past three decades, an organization known as EcoPeace Middle East has worked tirelessly to promote collaboration among Israelis, Palestinians, and Jordanians to protect their shared environmental heritage. With offices in Amman, Ramallah and Tel Aviv, EcoPeace works to advance sustainable regional development and the creation of necessary conditions for lasting peace, including efforts to address water shortages and the impact of climate change in the Middle East. EcoPeace has also played a key role in advancing the "IMEC Peace Triangle concept” by creating a trade corridor from India to Europe via Jordan, Palestine and Israel to foster economic interdependencies and promote a "win-win" for all parties.
About the Speakers
Gidon Bromberg co-founded EcoPeace Middle East in 1994 and has served as its Israeli Director for three decades. EcoPeace Middle East, a joint Palestinian, Jordanian, and Israeli organization, utilizes the concept of connectivity to advance the two-state solution & regional integration. The IMEC Peace Triangle concept utilizes the economic engine of connectivity to advance these geo-political goals in a transformative manner that aligns with national security and climate resilience – policy objectives that are more relevant than ever given present marine blockages. Mr. Bromberg has written extensively on the relationship between natural resource diplomacy and Middle East peace. He has presented on these issues before the UN Security Council, US Congress, European Parliament, UN Climate Summit, and in other local and international forums. EcoPeace was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2024 and 2025.
Professor Steven E. Zipperstein (moderator) is the Director of the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. He teaches in the Department of Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He is a Visiting Professor at Tel Aviv University Law School and a member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. He serves as a Distinguished Senior Scholar at the UCLA Center for Middle East Development and as a Senior Fellow at The Hague Initiative for International Cooperation in the Netherlands. Zipperstein is the author of three peer-reviewed books, most recently The Legal Case for Palestine: A Critical Assessment (Routledge, 2024).
